Sacramento Destinations to Explore

It's awesome living in a city with interesting (and delicious) destinations. If you have some time, why not grab a Gig and explore Sacramento? Here are a few special spots (some hidden, some not so much) to check out. Just Get In and Go!

Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area

Ready to get back to nature? The 16,600 acre Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area is located in the heart of the Pacific Flyway. It is a haven for fish, waterfowl, birds, neotropical migratory birds, raptors, snakes, turtles, toads, and bats. Bring your binoculars.

“Subtile” Sculpture

A delightful surprise awaits you along the Sacramento River Walk. “Subtile” is a 26-foot-long, 14-foot-high sculpture covered in 34,000 mirrors. Resembling a cluster of trees, this shiny and mesmerizing sculpture by Czech artist Federico Diaz will no doubt delight you. 

Kru Contemporary Japanese 

Heralded as one of the best takeout restaurants in Sac, patron favorites include the Australian wagyu and the prix fixe Omakase. You can find this contemporary cuisine gem on Folsom, south of McKinley Park. 

The Dragon House 

Along Curtis Hill’s aptly named Diagon Alley is a private fantasy dreamscape. The handmade clay tiles on this home depict dragons, lions, fairies, owls, frogs, and nymphs. The side of the building features a massive dragon and white tiger. This home has been an artistic work-in-progress for 20 years.

McKinley Park Rose Garden

Speaking of McKinley park, it’s home to the city’s biggest rose garden. Located on H Street, the garden has a few roses still in bloom even in the winter season. The garden has been a Sacto landmark for over 90 years and features more than 1,000 rose bushes, tree roses, and other blooming beauties.
