Everybody loves a festive holiday light display. But not everybody knows where to go to see the best holiday light displays. Here is a list of places to view some of the best and brightest in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and Seattle.

For the last 84 years, the 3200 block of Thompson Avenue in Alameda has been a must-see holiday lights extravaganza. Fifty homes join forces to create an event that includes special performances. Each house has a unique theme.
Union Square Tree

See the sparking from over 33,000 twinkling lights and 1,100 ornaments on the tree lit up at Union Square. While visiting, also lace up some skates at the ice rink and view all the decorations in store windows throughout the area.

Widmer World shows how much holiday cheer two people can create when they set their minds to it. Bob and Susan Widmer’s tribute to the holidays is a gift to anybody who happens across their home at 3671 Chelsea Court in Pleasanton. The couple has been decorating their property since `1980 and each year brings new additions to their epic holiday light display.

This free holiday lighting extravaganza features a live-action retelling of "A Visit from St. Nicholas," also known as " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas." The highlight of the 20-minute production is a live dramatization on the balconies above K Street, complete with a special appearance by Jack Frost, and the lighting of the 60-foot tree by St. Nick himself.
