Get in and Go (get fajitas!)

In the early 1930s, Mexican vaqueros in Southwest Texas began to develop a meal that combined grilled meat and tortillas. The meal would become a staple in the region. Throughout the years, additional ingredients were added — like pico de gallo, peppers, onions, guacamole, and spices —  and the modern day fajita was born.

August 18 is National Fajita Day and we couldn’t let that pass without sharing a few fantastic fajita favorites in Seattle, Sacramento, and the Bay Area! Just grab a Gig and Go (get fajitas!).

Here are a few of our favorite fajita spots*:

Seattle
Cactus on Alki Beach features an outdoor patio and views of the Olympics. The menu offers a variety of tapas and standards from Mexico and the Southwest, including sizzling fajitas!

El Legendario features fresh, authentic, and traditional Mexican food. Their signature dish - El Legendario - features shrimp fajitas, carne asada, and chicken. They also offer a fajitas plate with chicken or beef.

Fogón Cocina Mexicana is a vibrant family-owned cantina. Located in the heart of Capitol Hill, they offer a full, diverse menu (including fajitas, of course). We hear their chips and salsa are fantastic! Outdoor dining available.

SF Bay Area
The Little Chihuahua is all about quality, organic, sustainable ingredients.Their menu features a fajita burrito that has received rave reviews. What’s a fajita burrito? You have to order one to find out! Lucky for you, San Francisco, they have three locations!

Authentic and consistently delicious, Juan’s Place in Berkeley has been a local favorite for years. They have a classic and diverse menu, and we hear the shrimp fajitas are great! Vegetarian-friendly!

Canasta Kitchen in Alameda serves up plates of delicious tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and more. Generous portions, and always fresh. There is a small outdoor seating area. (Note: try the Platanos Machos!)

Sacramento
Family-owned, Vallejo’s Taqueria Y Cantina has been providing Sacramento with authentic Mexican food since 1983. They have two locations and a large menu. (Note: try the Fajitas Trio Combo!)

Ernesto’s Mexican Food features patio dining and a delicious menu. They’ve been around since 1991. Fajitas are one of their specialties!

Mezcal Grill offers a little bit of everything from all of the different regions of Mexico, as well as Tex-Mex and California favorites. Most of their produce and ingredients are locally sourced. Their fajita plate looks amazing!
